Wealthy Affiliate Review

About 7 months ago, I realized that I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, besides write. But I had no idea where or how to start that, let alone make an income doing so. I figured I needed to have piles of journals and short stories written, and to have already been out on my own and living for x number of years. Living at home, having completed half of my first two years of college, I felt stuck, overwhelmed by the pressure to make a decision and have the next few years of my life planned out. I knew that writing books take years of work, which while I have started, will not do any good for financial stress until they are finished. After a month of looking all over the web for ways to earn a living, I found Wealthy Affiliate.

Another get rich, internet marketing scam? Not a chance.

Before stumbling upon Wealthy Affiliate, I spent about a month following several different internet “gurus” as they like to call themselves, and even filling out surveys for tiny amounts of cash. The other programs offered success in a few days, or their videos and webinars took me in circles, asking for email addresses and hundreds or even thousands of dollars up front. When I tried to message these programs, there was no response. Many did not offer free trials, and I started to genuinely doubt the stories of those who have made millions, or even a part time income through internet marketing.

Through trial and error, lots of worry, contemplation, and frustration, I went on a hunch and gave the free trial a try.

As soon as I signed up, I was messaged by one of the owners, Kyle, (Carson is the other) telling me about how he gets unlimited traffic using keywords. I immediately started the program and went through the first few lessons. I had trouble coming up with a site name, or how to incorporate my interests into a profitable site, and in those first seven days, my computer’s hard drive crashed. Here I was, excited to start what is now a huge part of my life, ( and the first tab in my bookmarks) and my computer ceases to work (granted it was going on 8 years).  So I decided to use my free time in between classes to use the school computers to keep going. I messaged Kyle, telling him what had happened, and he extended my free trial for another 7 days. From this moment on I was hooked.

When this happened, I felt an immediate sense of trust. With that came the idea for my blog.

Once I upgraded my account to premium for the year($341 vs $558 if paying one month at a time) I started what has been one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had, let alone in front of a computer screen. You might think that $300-500 is a lot, but compared to the price of ONE college class or textbook, this is much more valuable. Wealthy Affiliate is set up similar to that of many social media sites, with an active community, a series of notifications, messages, search bar and your rank on the header, a live chat on the right side, and training, tools, and lessons on the left side. As I started to follow complete strangers all up and down the rank ladder (rank changes based on how active you are on WA), I started meeting many, many interesting people. I have made a few friends, and everyone within the community is helpful and kind. Every time I follow new members, most, if not all leave a comment on my profile thanking me for the follow, and wishing me best of luck. It really is a genuine and caring place.

The training is thought out, easy to follow, updated regularly, and broken down into manageable portions.

There are 5 courses, each cut into ten sections. Each section has 3-4 tasks, which usually has a video, a few instructions pertaining to outside sources that will help your site, (such as Google Analytics, Adsense, Amazon or other affiliate programs, plugins, etc.) and normally the task of writing an article. Wealthy affiliate focus’ around finding a niche that you love, and building a full income site around it using affiliate links. WA emphasizes on writing quality content around the products or services you are promoting. Too many times have people been scammed over the internet for various reasons. Sometimes this is the proficient skills of a hacker, but more often than not it is through lack of careful research by the one being scammed. With Wealthy Affiliate, creating a face for your site is the main goal in training.

Wealthy Affiliate uses WordPress, which is used by over 70 million people.

With one of the biggest website builders in the game, and partnered with Siterubix, a Wealthy Affiliate membership grants you with 25 free domain names and 25 owned domains (for a small fee). Members are given access to thousands of themes, plugins, help from hundreds of thousands of veterans as well as new members, access to keyword tools, an affiliate program for referring WA, and rewards when milestones are met. If a member refers 300 people to WA, they get a trip to Las Vegas at the annual conference. 3,000 referrals and you get a ride in a Bentley for the duration of the trip.

The biggest aspect of WA (and my favorite) is the SiteComments feature. With this, you are able to give and receive comments on your website, showing search engines your legitimacy and gaining followers in the mean time. The part that I love about this feature is that for you have to give a comment on 2 different sites to receive one comment. This way, you are always giving more than receiving, meaning that helping others becomes your main concern.

Kyle Loudoun and Carson Lim have created an enormously generous as well as profitable website, which focuses’ on helping you express your loves through your own site. Their interactive, kind community, multi-faceted website building platform and wealth of knowledge really has given me great faith in pursuing my dreams, and helping me do just that. If you are interested in showing the world your passions, making a full-time living doing so, and meeting many awesome people, I suggest giving Wealthy Affiliate a try. 7 months into it and I know in my core that it is the smartest decision I have made to express my creativity as well as generate a stable income.

If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, feel free to leave a message below. I love meeting new people and hearing new stories! I hope you have a great day!

  1. As a personal user of wealthy affiliate. I will be the first to say that it is truly one of the best places to build your own online business. You literally have everything you need and you can begin as a free member. There are way too many scams around that people aren’t wary of but this is genuinely legit.

    1. I agree, I spent a couple of months looking through many questionable websites before I stumbled upon WA, and I have yet to hear a bad word about it, this being 9 months later.

  2. I agree that Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam and it helps people to earn money online.

I have been using their service for over two years. I started from zero and knew nothing about online business before. Now, I have learned about building website, writing posts and SEO.

It is an excellent platform for everyone who wants to earn money online. Anyone can sign up for free to try.

    1. I agree, it is a wonderful place! How is your website doing now since you have started?

  3. I have heard some really great things about Wealthy Affiliate. Even the review online is pretty great and I think that it is amazing that so many people are able to make it with making money online.
How long does it usually take for someone to be successful online, how long did it take you?

    1. It is a wonderful program! Success is up to you, as far as what that means. I have been at it for almost 6 months, and while I am starting to get many new followers on social media, and more and more comments, I have yet to make money yet. However, I would say that I have been successful in creating a positive website that has helped numerous people, and I have made friends, which is always better than money.

With this in mind, Kyle told me it took him 6 months before he saw a dime, and a year before he could make this his full time job. Gary Vaynerchuk talks about putting in the work for 18 months before even recognized. It really depends on how much time and effort you put into it. If your goal is only to make money, it will take a lot longer than if your goal is to provide something for people.

      Good luck to you!

  4. What a nice sharing from you. I love to have read your experience with wealthy affiliate. It’s not easy in the beginning but you keep trying.

And after reading your post, it looks like joining wealthy affiliate is worth it. But I’m still thinking which one that I should take for a premium membership. Yearly or monthly, which one do you think would be the best? Can you give more reason other than saving money?

    1. Thank you for your kind words! In my opinion, it is worth it, and yes that is a decision to consider. Honestly, If you are looking to start your own online business, I would say Wealthy Affiliate is the way to go. But it will take time, it may be 6-8 months before you see any money come in.

With that in mind, I would pay for the whole year in advance, as you will no longer have to worry about it, and it is much cheaper. But if you are short on money and would still like to join, then the monthly is up to you.

There are no extra perks for paying for the year in advance vs by month, except that you get a huge discount for doing so in the beginning. At the end of course 4 or beginning of course 5, one of the objectives (optional) is to go ahead and pay for the rest of year to get a reduced price, but obviously you do not have to. But at this point you may be 4-6 months into it, and will only get, say $130 off vs the $217 if you purchased premium from the beginning.

Really the only reason to get premium from the beginning is to save money, but with that extra $217, you could put that into facebook ads, buying your domain(s), or into your savings. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
